The WTO Internship Program offers young graduates a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop valuable skills in international trade. Interns receive a monthly stipend of CHF 60 to cover living expenses during their internship.

The WTO is committed to hiring the best and brightest individuals, and the internship program is part of its effort to attract and retain top talent.

The World Trade Organization (WTO) Internship Program offers a unique opportunity for recent graduates to gain practical experience in international trade. This program allows interns to work alongside experts, learn about the complexities of global trade, and contribute to the WTO’s mission.

Interns are assigned tasks that align with their interests and the needs of the WTO. While many internships focus on trade policy, opportunities also exist in areas like finance, human resources, language services, IT, and communications.

To be eligible for the WTO Internship Program, you must:

  • Be a citizen of a WTO member country or a country in the process of joining the WTO.
  • Have completed a bachelor’s degree and at least one year of a postgraduate degree.
  • Be between the ages of 21 and 30.

Interns will receive a daily stipend of CHF 60 throughout their internship, including weekends and holidays. However, the WTO is unable to cover travel costs to and from Geneva or provide insurance for interns during their stay.

It’s important to note that health insurance is mandatory in Switzerland. Interns are responsible for arranging their own health insurance before starting their internship.

How to Apply

To apply, candidates should submit their applications through the WTO’s online job portal. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews. The WTO maintains a roster of qualified candidates, and suitable applications are kept on file for one year.
