Africa’s banking giant, United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has announced the appointment of Henrietta Ugboh as an Independent Non-Executive Director. This appointment follows the retirement of Owanari Duke from the Group Board.
The appointment has been approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria and other relevant regulatory authorities.
UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu expressed confidence in Ugboh’s ability to contribute significantly to the board. Elumelu also expressed enthusiasm about Ugboh’s appointment, highlighting her strong track record and alignment with the bank’s commitment to robust corporate governance.
He stated, “Henrietta Ugboh brings a wealth of experience and leadership skills that will further strengthen our board and align with our commitment to robust corporate governance.”
Ugboh brings over 30 years of banking experience, particularly in commercial banking, credit, and risk management. She holds degrees from the University of Benin and ESUT Business School, as well as an Executive Management Program certification from Harvard Business School.
The board also acknowledged the retirement of Owanari Duke, who served on the board for over a decade. Duke contributed significantly to the bank’s success through her roles on various board committees.
Elumelu extended his gratitude to Duke for her dedication and wished her well in her future endeavors.
